GTIM Network Home Page
This page presents to the general viewer the GTIM Network Web Site. The tabs along the top of the page ---- “Home”, "About This Website", “About Us”, and “Contact Us” --- will take the viewer to the major sections of the website. To the right of these tabs are “Register”, “Login”, and “Cart” which are self-explanatory. Registration is a requisite to having full access to all of the Web Site’s content.
Management Activity Pages
The focal center of the Site’s home page is an export process graphic, separated into “Preparing to Export” and “Managing the Export Process” areas, which together contain 21 Management Activities beginning with “What is Exporting”. By clicking on any of these boxes the user is taken to a page presenting basic material regarding the topic/page that has been selected.
A selected Management Activity page is arranged to present an intro to the training for that activity, its objectives and highlights… and a sample of that training unit’s text. The intent here is to give a very brief overview of what may be expected on the page so the viewer can make a quick determination on whether to go elsewhere or to go deeper into the content offered on that particular page.
At the right-hand column, there appears at the top “Shopping Cart” which will display any fee-paid selection made by the viewer, which is automatically updated as selections are added.
Also at each Management Activity page are the “Need to Know”, “Need to Do”, and “Need Assistance” areas. Specifically…...
“Need to Know”……
Listed are items that elaborate on the text presented at the overview to deepen understanding of the topic from providing the full text covering the topic to videos which discuss the topic, audio recordings of the same, and transcripts of the video/audio recordings. It is the “core” training area of this Web Site, its “theoretical” foundation.
“Need to Do”…..
This is a set of tools that guide the viewer on applying what is learned to practical situations. Beginning with:
- "Checklists” which are a step by step guide on what to do in given situations, then...
- "Lists" of resources or institutions that can directly assist with the topic at hand, followed by…
- “Web Resources” which are a carefully selected set of websites that can offer immediate assistance, and finally...
- "Relevant Documents" which are documents from a number of open sources and institutions that present topics at a strategic level and are a useful complement to better understand the global business environment.
"Need Assistance"…
The training provided by the GTIM Network, is designed for entrepreneurs to become fully proficient on all aspects of global trade and investment management. However, the sheer amount of material the GTIM Network presents can be quite daunting.
With increased exposure to GTIM Network training, theoretical and practical, entrepreneurs will come to realize that they need not master all of the subject matter regarding global trade and investment.....but need only concentrate on those Export Process “Management Activities” which are applicable to their business requirements. Even so, due to external time or financial constraints, the entrepreneur might still request some assistance in applying what is learned to practical circumstances…
Viewers are offered three kinds of assistance: “GTIM Network Services”; “Professional Services”, and “Support Services”.
1) GTIM Network Services is assistance offered by the GTIM Network staff. By clicking on any one of the three listed phases of the Export Process where the GTIM Network staff has expertise (Market Intelligence, Market Promotion, Market Contacts) the viewer is taken to the menu of service offerings, ranging in ascending order of complexity. In general, the GTIM network offers counsel in areas such as:
- Selecting the most promising markets of opportunity for products and services in a set of countries;
- Gathering information on the markets of opportunity at the sector level ---- for a particular product or service to be exported/imported----from all available sources to include in-house staff and contractors, as well as private and government institutions;
- Establishing commercial contacts to serve as agent/ distributors or end-buyers;
- Identifying service providers to assist with certain “Management Activities”;
- Becoming acquainted with private sector and government institutions which impact on international trade and investment as facilitators, regulators, policy-makers or credit guarantors.
Services are offered in Standardized and Customized formats.
- Standardized services are presented as specific objectives to be satisfied within a given period of time at a scheduled fee. The menus are structured in this manner.
- Customized means that the content, deadlines, and fees related to the services are all negotiable. Below are “templates” of what may be expected from each format:

2) Professional Services. To support the aspiring exporter with issues that require licensed or very experienced service providers --- usually concentrated in the “Transaction Management “phase” of the export process. --- the GTIM Network refers clients to Professional Service providers such as accounting firms, banks, shipping agents, insurers, etc. These professionals can attend to very specific requirements through a set of fee-based services.
At the right-hand column of the Web page, the GTIM Network provides a list of Professional Services categories for clients to choose from. Clicking on any one of the categories will display, on the main viewing pane, two lists of firms belonging to that category:
“Internet Directories” is a selection of Web Sites useful in locating service providers knowledgeable about a given region of the world. The GTIM Network has no knowledge of firms listed here regarding their performance.
“GTIM Network Directories” is a list of specific service providers selected by the GTIM Network staff because these providers are familiar with the Network. As important, firms listed here are rated by registered GTIM Network members who have used their services. By clicking on any one of the individual firms, the viewer is taken to a display “box” presenting more information on that firm to include a brief description, key contacts, and website if any.
3) Support Services
The services listed under this category heading are from sources not necessarily dedicated to facilitating international trade and investment, such as hotels that cater to a varied clientele; however they can be of assistance to aspiring entrepreneurs when conducting their global business.
As with the Professional Services, these support services present the same kind of lists for further research, “Internet Directories” and “GTIM Network Directories”.
