Export Readiness

Unit 1 - Ready For Export: What is Exporting? Benefits of Exporting

Objective of this Unit

Introduce the emerging entrepreneur to the general concept of exporting….and its benefits. The intent is to encourage the entrepreneur to continue with his/her mastery of the “core competencies” (market intelligence, market promotion, market contacts, transaction management) to be learned with this set of tutorials. It will require dedication to master these competencies; the motivation to do so must be established early on.

Unit 2 - Ready For Export: Export Prerequisites

Objective of this Unit

Becoming a successful exporter requires learning the above competencies …but there must be some prerequisites satisfied before an existing company can begin to undertake export activities. Essentially a firm must make an internal evaluation that it has an export-ready product or service and is able to adjust its operations to manage export demands.

Unit 3 - Ready For Export: Costs of Exporting; Risks of Exporting

Objective of this Unit

There are costs and risks associated with export activities. This unit covers a number of them…and strategies for mitigating their potential adverse impact. The potential exporter should realize before mastering the “core competencies” that there will always be costs and risks associated with exports…but that there will also be high profits for those who avoid the risks and minimize the costs.
